A Playbook for Screenwriting in the Age of Climate Change
Climate change presents an existential threat, and stories should reflect that. Earlier this year, Good Energy launched the Good Energy Playbook, a guide for creators to incorporate more climate narratives into their stories. Now, they’re releasing a full report, in conjunction with the USC Annenberg Norman Lear Center Media Impact Project, featuring findings from an analysis of thousands of Hollywood scripts to get a grasp on just how rarely climate change is mentioned. Its findings show that as the climate crisis worsens, audiences feel that scripted stories and characters barely acknowledge climate.
